Gurney’s Resorts has acquired The Beach Retreat and Lodge in South Lake Tahoe, with plans to renovate and reopen it as Gurney’s Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa by Spring 2027.
Gurney’s Resorts has announced its expansion to the West Coast with the acquisition of The Beach Retreat and Lodge located in South Lake Tahoe. The property will undergo a comprehensive renovation and is set to reopen as Gurney’s Lake Tahoe Resort & Spa in Spring 2027. The development marks Gurney’s first venture on the West Coast, complementing its existing presence on the East Coast.
The renovation will begin immediately and will involve extensive capital improvements to the waterfront location. Upon completion, the resort will offer 206 guest rooms and suites. The updated facility will include new food and beverage concepts, a spa, refreshed banquet and event spaces, and private beach and marina access. The resort aims to provide year-round outdoor experiences, capitalizing on its setting for both summer and winter recreational activities.
The new Lake Tahoe property will join Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa in New York as part of the company’s portfolio. The Montauk location is known for its private oceanfront and spa facilities. Gurney’s aims to establish the Lake Tahoe resort as a premier destination on the West Coast, offering a diverse range of amenities and experiences for guests and the local community.
