The Gossip Girl Reunion at Milan Fashion Week

Blair Waldorf and Lily van der Woodsen would not be out of place among the front row at a fashion show and neither would Leighton Meester and Kelly Rutherford.

The two Gossip Girl actresses reunited at the Max Mara womenswear spring/summer 2027 show during Milan Fashion Week, seated side by side in the front row exactly as their characters might have been. Video captured the moment Rutherford arrived to find Meester already in her seat – the two falling immediately into conversation in a scene that felt less like a celebrity sighting and more like a new episode of their on-screen world.

It’s the second time the pair have been spotted together on the fashion circuit. They last reunited publicly at the Elie Saab show during Paris Fashion Week in 2025, posing for a photo with the designer alongside actress Sofia Carson.

The timing feels particularly resonant for Gossip Girl fans. The original series, which ran from 2007 to 2012, continues to draw new audiences – a fact that hasn’t been lost on Rutherford. “It was how many years ago, and it’s still pretty relevant,” she said earlier this year. “There’s so many things I loved on the show; so many good outfits.”

The Gossip Girl universe is also quietly expanding. Author Cecily von Ziegesar has a new book in the works focused on Blair Waldorf, and Meester herself has read the early chapters. As for whether she’d ever reprise the role that made her famous? “You never say never,” she said in 2022 for Town & Country.
