The Last Night’ Sets Netflix Premiere for March

9 February 20263 Mins Read

Warner Bros. Japan

The “Body Search” isn’t over yet. Following the massive global success of the 2022 Japanese horror hit Re/Member (Karada Sagashi), the terrifying time loop is starting up again. We have learned that the highly anticipated sequel, Re/Member: The Last Night, is making its SVOD debut on Netflix next month.

Produced by Warner Bros. Japan, the film had a theatrical release in its home country late last year in September. Now, thanks to Netflix’s ongoing partnership with the studio, international audiences will get to witness the next chapter of the “Red Person” curse exclusively on the service, although under slightly different circumstances.

Last time out, the movie was actually labeled as a Netflix Original and remains on the service to this day, although we can reveal its licensing rights will expire in 2033, 10 years after it was added on February 14th. Since its release, the movie has garnered 29M viewing hours on Netflix globally, equating to 16.7M views.

We can confirm that the recently released sequel, Re/Member: The Last Night, will be available to stream on Netflix US and select international regions starting Thursday, March 5th, 2026, as a licensed title.

What is Re/Member: The Last Night about?

Warning: The following section contains spoilers. Proceed with caution!

You’ll need to watch the first movie before diving into this sequel so be warned that what follows does give insights into the first film.

If you thought escaping high school was the end of the nightmare, think again. The sequel expands the scope of the horror, moving the deadly game from the school hallways to a sprawling, creepy amusement park.

The story picks up three years after the events of the first film. The original movie ended with Asuka (Kanna Hashimoto) disappearing just as the loop was broken. Now, a new group of high school students finds themselves trapped in the deadly “Body Search” game at the Kijima Starland theme park.

They are joined by a familiar face: Takahiro (Gordon Maeda), the survivor from the first film who has spent the last three years searching for the vanished Asuka. Together, they must locate the scattered body parts of a new victim while being hunted by the “Red Person”—all before the clock strikes midnight and the day resets.

The official synopsis reads:

“Three years after the deadly game at the high school, a new nightmare begins. Trapped in a time loop at a desolate amusement park, five new students must join forces with a survivor of the past to complete a new Body Search. But this time, the Red Person isn’t the only thing hunting them.”

Who is in the cast?

Director Eiichiro Hasumi returns to helm the sequel, bringing back the frantic, bloody energy of the first installment. The cast features returning leads alongside a new generation of victims:

  • Kanna Hashimoto returns as Asuka Morisaki.
  • Gordon Maeda returns as Takahiro Ise.
  • Kaito Sakurai joins the cast as Rikuto Ichinose, the new protagonist.
  • Fuku Suzuki as Yamato Tanabe.
  • Seira Anzai as Misaki Hayakawa.
  • Marin Honda as Arisa Kinoshita.

Why You Should Watch

The first Re/Member was a surprise hit on Netflix, praised for its unique blend of Groundhog Day mechanics and J-Horror gore. The sequel promises to dial everything up to eleven. With the setting shifting to an amusement park, expect inventive death scenes involving roller coasters, mirrored funhouses, and Ferris wheels.

Will you be visiting Kijima Starland on March 5th? Let us know if you are brave enough to face the Red Person again in the comments below!
