This famous B.C. park with cascading waterfalls is a must-visit this spring

5 April 20262 Mins Read

Spring is a great time of year to go chasing waterfalls, as the winter runoff makes it all the more exciting to behold the rushing water. Little Qualicum Falls, in particular, is famous for cascading through the lush forest, stunning hikers and campers alike.

One of the area’s most stunning parks

Situated on the southern shore of Cameron Lake on Vancouver Island, the provincial park is popular for lake swimming during the warmer months, but its namesake waterfalls are the star of the show. The water flows over steep mountain peaks down a rocky gorge, making this one of the area’s most stunning parks.

Riverside trails, lake swimming, and picnicking

Visitors can explore shaded riverside trails, enjoying a picnic before or after at a designated picnic table area. The trails offer scenic views of the river, plenty of bridges, and provide access to the upper and lower falls.

Cameron Lake is a hotspot for swimming, fishing, and sailboarding, according to BC Parks.

For an easy walk, hikers can leave from the day-use area and follow a loop trail to view the lower and upper waterfalls. A lookout point is located along this trail that offers spectacular views of the river and upper falls.

Of note, the area from 75 metres above the Middle Falls Bridge to the downstream park boundary is closed to swimmers.

Note that the lake and Beaufort day-use areas are situated 10 minutes west of the campground.

Bookmark this stunner for your spring and summer trips!

Where: 4001 Alberni Highway, Qualicum Beach
