This free outdoor concert series is taking over parks in and around Edmonton

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is returning to the park for its outdoor summer concert series. With music spanning multiple genres, including (but not limited to) classical, pops, and Hollywood film scores, it’ll be fun for the entire family.

For Edmonton and the surrounding areas, there’s going to be a whole bunch of special performances gracing the area. Fans of music are invited to bring a lawn chair, gather your family and friends, and join the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for this exciting free summer concert series. Starting on Aug. 20, the symphony orchestra will be popping up at parks in the area for everyone to enjoy.

Ready to pull up a seat? Here’s a rundown on everything you’ll need to know.

What is ESO Outdoors?

Around this time every year, the Edmonton Symphony does a couple of concerts outdoors, in the spirit of the season. This year is no different.

The setlist comprises some delightful renditions of memorable songs spanning multiple genres, including some music from the beloved film La La Land. With live music from the orchestra, not to mention the energy from the crowd, this event is truly incredible.

Something to keep in mind: there’s no assigned seating or, frankly, any seating at all. You’ll have to bring your own lawn chair or picnic blanket if you’re looking to take a break during the show.

Also, while these concerts are technically free, it’s recommended to make a donation.

For those who do decide to donate, you’ll be able to pick up tokens of appreciation at the event. Just bring your confirmation email to the ESO tent to retrieve it, with gifts including the “I Love my ESO” button for those who donated $25 and up, an ESO tote bag for $50 and up, and an ESO aluminum water bottle for $100 and up.

When and where are the ESO Outdoors performances?

There are a total of five outdoor shows getting put on for this series. We’ve rounded up the dates, times, and locations of all of the performances for your convenience.

Here are all the upcoming shows:

• Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. – Centennial Park, Devon, Alta.
• Saturday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. – Legacy Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.
• Sunday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. – Four Seasons Park, Beaumont, Alta.
• Saturday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. – Station Lands, Edmonton, Alta.
• Sunday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. – Heritage Park Pavilion, Stony Plain, Alta.
