This Lunar New Year festival in Calgary will have a lion dance and fashion show

5 February 20262 Mins Read

Celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse at the Vietnamese Village Festival, featuring a ton of local vendors and a thrilling fashion show.

In Chinese zodiac tradition, the Horse represents strength, energy, and ambition. This year, the Lunar New Year falls on Feb. 17, and celebrations continue for 16 days.

“As we leave behind the introspective and intuitive Year of the Snake, the Year of the Horse gallops in with vibrant and fiery energy, symbolizing adventure, vitality, and momentum,” shares Chinese New Year in its latest guide.

Considering it’s about to be a busy month, some events are held earlier, like this one. Mark your calendars for Feb. 7, 2026, and make your way to The Village Brentwood from 1 to 6:30 p.m.

What to expect

This free festival will bring the festive season to life through art, food, snacks, drinks, and so much more. Explore offerings from local vendors, from handmade creations to delicious eats. Once you’re done with your shopping, head over to the photo booth for free, adorable pictures. Make some memories and capture them too.

“Get face painting done, grab some cute keychains and jewelry, have some Vietnamese snacks and drinks and then sit back and enjoy all the stage performances we have lined up,” shares organizers.

And on that note, there will be an exciting lion dance performance by Jing Wo Lion Dance Association at 4 p.m.

In addition to all the festivities, there will also be a Vietnamese dance and Áo Dài fashion show. Be sure to stick around and catch all the stunning performances.

You don’t want to miss out on all the exciting activities going down during the Vietnamese Village Festival.

And if you want to keep the fun going and enjoy more Lunar New Year celebrations, the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is inviting the city to celebrate the occasion. Visit the centre on Feb. 14, 15, 21, and 22, 2026, and enjoy the experience with free admission and a ton of festivities.

When: Feb. 7, 2026
Time: 1 to 6:30 p.m.
Where: The Village Lifestyle Brentwood Centre — 4039 Brentwood Rd. NW.
Cost: Free
