HOUSTON – Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday as it spins toward another landfall in Texas on Thursday.
Bertha is bringing gusty winds, rough seas and periods of heavy rain to the Louisiana coast on Thursday.
The storm’s first landfall happened about 2 p.m. CT Wednesday near the Biloxi Wildlife Management Area in St. Bernard Parish, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The forecast calls for Bertha to approach Texas as a low-end tropical storm with gusty winds, rip currents, some storm surge at the coast and periods of heavy rain.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Texas from the Louisiana state line to Sargent. This includes places such as Galveston, Galveston Island, Surfside Beach, Sabine and Port Arthur.
A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area soon.

Forecasters are already highlighting the possibility of heavy rain in Texas as Bertha moves inland. The highest rainfall amounts are expected to be between 2 and 4 inches.

Bertha is the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
Texas was also impacted by this season’s first named storm. Arthur brought heavy rain and gusty winds to the Texas Gulf Coast in mid-June.
