Vietnam Sees 11% Increase in International Air Arrivals in March 2026

International Air Traffic Growth

Amadeus Travel Intelligence data shows that international air travel to Vietnam rose by 11.1% in March 2026 compared to the same month in 2025. The data indicates that this growth is driven not only by traditional source markets but also by emerging markets, reflecting a broader and more diverse visitor base.

Performance of Key Source Markets

South Korea remains the largest source of international arrivals to Vietnam, accounting for 31.5% of total visitors, despite a 4.6% decrease in arrivals from this market in March 2026 compared to March 2025. This decline did not prevent South Korea from maintaining its leading position.

Other Asian markets showed notable increases. The Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore recorded some of the highest year-on-year growth rates among regional markets. The data highlights that regional travel within Asia is a significant contributor to Vietnam’s overall increase in international arrivals.

Long-Haul Market Trends

Demand from long-haul markets also strengthened. Arrivals from Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom each increased by more than 20% compared to March 2025. Specifically, the United Kingdom saw a 21.5% rise in arrivals. However, not all European markets followed this trend, as arrivals from France declined during the same period. This variation indicates that demand from Europe is shifting on a market-by-market basis rather than uniformly across the region.

Established and Emerging Markets

Several of Vietnam’s established source markets continued to grow at rates similar to or slightly above the overall market growth. This suggests that the diversification of Vietnam’s tourist base is occurring alongside stable demand from traditional markets, rather than replacing it.

The data shows that the increase in international arrivals is supported by both established and emerging markets, contributing to a more resilient tourism sector. A wider range of source countries reduces the risk associated with declines in any single market.

Market Diversification and Resilience

The Amadeus data indicates that Vietnam’s tourism sector is becoming more diversified, with a broader mix of visitors from across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. This diversification is seen as a factor that can help stabilize the sector against fluctuations in demand from individual countries.

The findings suggest that a more varied visitor base may require tailored approaches to marketing and product offerings to address the preferences of different source markets. The data also implies that ongoing monitoring of travel patterns is necessary to respond to changes in demand.

Summary of Findings

– International air arrivals to Vietnam increased by 11.1% in March 2026 year-on-year.

– South Korea remains the largest source market, despite a decline in arrivals.

– The Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore showed strong regional growth.

– Arrivals from Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom rose by over 20%.

– European demand varied, with the UK increasing and France decreasing.

– Growth is supported by both established and emerging markets, contributing to sector resilience.

The data reflects ongoing changes in international travel patterns to Vietnam, with growth driven by a wider range of source markets.
