Virgin Voyages Just Launched an AI Tool for Booking—And It's Actually Kind of Cool

23 April 20263 Mins Read

If you’ve ever spent an hour squinting at deck plans to make sure your cabin isn’t directly under the galley or the treadmill room, you know that cruise planning is a logistical puzzle. Virgin Voyages is trying to eliminate that “analysis paralysis” with Rovey, a new digital assistant that acts as a pre-trip concierge.

While “AI” can often feel like a buzzword, this tool has a few very specific, real-world applications for anyone currently eyeing a sailing on one of the Lady Ships.

It Acts as a Deck Plan Whisperer

Instead of you having to decode the difference between a Sea Terrace and a Brilliant Suite, you can describe your “vibe” to the tool. It’s programmed to understand the ship’s inventory, helping you narrow down a cabin category based on your budget and how much time you actually plan to spend in the room.

It Curates Your “Shore Things”

Virgin has over 150 ports of call and hundreds of excursions (which they call “Shore Things”). Rovey is designed to filter these based on your “travel pace.” If you prefer active adventures over a slow-paced bus tour, the tool remembers that preference and only shows you the hikes or catamaran sails that actually fit your interests.

It Generates Your Logistics and Packing Lists

One of the most useful features for the practical traveler is its ability to handle “fine print” logistics. You can ask for a specific packing list for an Alaska voyage in May or a breakdown of exactly what is included in the Rockstar service.

The “Memory” Factor

The biggest win for the reader is that the tool remembers where you left off. If you start your research on your laptop during a lunch break and finish it on your phone later that night, Rovey keeps your progress intact so you don’t have to start your search from scratch.

This is the first of several digital upgrades Virgin is rolling out this year to make the “Sailor” experience more seamless. For now, it lives on the Virgin website to help you get through the booking process without the usual twenty open browser tabs.
