Welcome back to Hawkins, nerds! While fans have already binge-watched the epic live-action conclusion of the main series, Netflix isn’t done with the Upside Down just yet. They are officially expanding the Stranger Things universe with a brand new animated venture: Stranger Things: Tales from ’85’.
Set in the freezing winter of 1985—smack in the middle of the events of Seasons 2 and 3—the new animated series brings back our favorite D&D-playing residents alongside some exciting new characters. But with a fresh animated look comes a mostly brand-new voice cast stepping into the shoes of these iconic roles.
Who is voicing Eleven, Mike, and the rest of the gang? Let’s dive into the full (announced – there are still a few more names to be added) voice cast guide for Stranger Things: Tales from ’85’.
Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven (Jane Hopper)

Who they play: The telekinetic powerhouse at the center of the series. El is trying to settle back into a normal life after the events of Season 2, but the Upside Down isn’t done with her yet.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Taking over the iconic role from Millie Bobby Brown is rising child star Brooklyn Davey Norstedt. Stepping into El’s shoes marks her major mainstream acting debut!
Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max Mayfield
Who they play: The skateboarding, arcade-loving tomboy who recently joined the Party.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Taking over the role from Sadie Sink, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is no stranger to the screen. You’ve likely seen her starring as Zoe in Amazon’s Just Add Magic or playing Bian in HBO’s critically acclaimed Watchmen limited series. She also had a voice role in Netflix’s big 2025 animated film, In Your Dreams.
Luca Diaz as Mike Wheeler
Who they play: The heart of the Party and Eleven’s devoted boyfriend, originally portrayed by Finn Wolfhard.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Voice acting fans will recognize Diaz’s voice from Nickelodeon’s animated series Transformers: EarthSpark. He has also appeared in live-action Nickelodeon projects like Erin & Aaron.
Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas Sinclair
Who they play: The pragmatic, loyal, and brave member of the group, originally played by Caleb McLaughlin.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: EJ Williams is best known for his breakout starring role as Dean Williams in the 2021 ABC reboot of The Wonder Years. He has also lent his voice to Disney’s Puppy Dog Pals.
Braxton Quinney as Dustin Henderson
Who they play: The lovable, curly-haired nerd of the group, famously played by Gaten Matarazzo in live-action.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Braxton Quinney is a talented young actor stepping into his biggest project yet, taking on the massive task of voicing fan-favorite Dustin for a new generation.
Ben Plessala as Will Byers
Who they play: The boy who survived the Upside Down, originally portrayed by Noah Schnapp. Will is hoping for a quiet winter of playing D&D with his best friends.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Plessala has built an impressive resume as a child actor, with appearances in massive hit TV shows like HBO’s Big Little Lies, Showtime’s Shameless, and NBC’s American Auto.
Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper
Who they play: Hawkins’ gruff but lovable Chief of Police and Eleven’s adoptive father. David Harbour defined the live-action role, but Gipson is taking over for the animation.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Gipson is an actor and stunt performer who has appeared in shows like NCIS, S.W.A.T., and the comedy-horror film Knights of Badassdom.
Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter
Who they play: A brand new character joining the Stranger Things universe! Nikki is described as a punk-loving teen who gets swept up in the Hawkins madness.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: A’zion is well known to Netflix fans as Joey Del Marco in the drama series Grand Army. Horror fans will also easily recognize her for her starring role in Hulu’s 2022 Hellraiser reboot. She also appeared most recently in A24’s Marty Supreme.
Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington
Who they play: Hawkins’ resident babysitter and hair-care expert, originally played by Joe Keery.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: A Broadway legend! Jordan is famous for his stage roles in Newsies and The Great Gatsby, as well as playing Winn Schott in The CW’s Supergirl and voicing Lucifer in Amazon’s animated mega-hit Hazbin Hotel.
Janeane Garofalo as Anna Baxter
Who they play: Another new addition to the cast, who is the mother of Odessa A’zion’s character, Nikki, and a new school teacher, plus [redacted]
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: A comedy icon of the ’90s, Garofalo is famous for Reality Bites, Wet Hot American Summer, Mystery Men, and for voicing Colette in Pixar’s beloved classic Ratatouille.
Lou Diamond Phillips as Daniel Fischer
Who they play: Another mystery character joining the fray in Hawkins.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: A Hollywood veteran, Lou Diamond Phillips shot to fame playing Ritchie Valens in La Bamba and starred in Young Guns, Stand and Deliver, and more recently, the hit series Prodigal Son.
Robert Englund as Cosmo
Who they play: Details on Cosmo are being kept strictly under wraps, but knowing Englund’s history, expect something incredibly spooky.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: He’s the man of your nightmares! Englund is the legendary horror icon who played Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Of course, Stranger Things fans already know him well—he famously played the terrifying, eyeless Victor Creel in Season 4.
Alysia Reiner as Karen Wheeler
Who they play: Mike and Nancy’s mother, originally played by Cara Buono.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Reiner is incredibly recognizable to long-time Netflix subscribers as Natalie “Fig” Figueroa from Orange is the New Black. She has also starred in Marvel’s Ms. Marvel and Better Things.
Alessandra Antonelli as Nancy Wheeler
Who they play: Mike’s older sister and Hawkins’ resident teen journalist, taking over the role from Natalia Dyer.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Antonelli is a New York-based stage actress, dancer, and voice-over artist making a huge splash by stepping into Nancy’s monster-hunting shoes.
Valeria Rodriguez as Rosario

Who they play: A new character has been added to the mix for the animated series. According to reports, she is a rival student who will compete against the gang in a pie-eating contest.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Rodriguez is an extremely prolific voice actor in the video game and anime world. They are best known for voicing Venture in Overwatch 2, Sucrose in Genshin Impact, and Lagoona Blue in the animated Monster High series.
Jack Griffo as Jeff
Who they play: Another brand new face in town! According to reports, he’s a missing student found in the sewers.
Where you’ve seen/heard them before: Nickelodeon fans will instantly recognize Griffo as Max Thunderman from the hit superhero comedy The Thundermans (and its recent spinoff movie).
