World Brands Collection Hotels & Resorts Ltd. (WBC) has announced an expansion of its hotel portfolio in Japan. The expansion involves partnerships with international brands, including Six Senses and Banyan Tree.
Recent openings include Six Senses Kyoto and Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto, both launched in 2024, and Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto, which opened in 2023. These properties aim to cater to a diverse range of guest preferences, from wellness seekers to cultural explorers.
WBC has outlined several upcoming projects. Banyan Tree Hakone Ashinoko is planned for the Hakone Ashinoko area, with development currently underway. The Hakuba Luxury Project is in the planning stages in the Hakuba area, known for its mountain resorts. Another project, the Toba & Ise Luxury Project, is being planned in the Toba and Ise area, recognized for its historical and cultural significance.
Additionally, Six Senses Hakone Gora and Six Senses Hokkaido Niseko are scheduled to open in 2029. The Hakone Gora project is a collaboration with Six Senses, located in the Hakone Gora area. The Hokkaido Niseko property is under development in the Niseko region of Hokkaido.
These developments are part of WBC’s strategy to expand its presence in Japan’s hospitality market through collaborations with globally recognized brands. The projects are designed to align with the standards of the partner brands while reflecting Japanese cultural elements.
