Snakes are slithering onto streaming this weekend. Zootopia 2 smashed box office records when it opened Thanksgiving weekend and the Zootopia Police Department is chasing a pit viper onto VOD this weekend. Tom Gormican blends snake-related jump scares and meta humor in Anaconda, his remake of the 1997 cult classic, which is also available to rent.
The 1984 Christmas slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night also gets a remake, with a bad Santa violently crashing a “white power Christmas” party. And the end of the world was just the beginning in Greenland 2: Migration, where Gerald Butler and his family look for safety after a meteor strike.

Silent Night, Deadly Night
- Genre: Slasher
- Run time: 1h 36m
- Director: Mike P. Nelson
- Cast: Rohan Campbell, Ruby Modine, David Lawrence Brown
Mike P. Nelson’s remake of the 1984 holiday slasher follows Billy (Rohan Campbell), a serial killer who dresses as Santa to slay people who are “naughty” to protect those who are “nice.” His annual murder spree – timed to the advent calendar – leads him to Nazi Christmas party where he unleashes some festive carnage.
From our review:
Silent Night, Deadly Night takes the material seriously without any suffocating fealty to its low-rent aesthetics. It also defines itself mostly on those terms — as a corrective that views its killer with maximum sympathy, rather than the exploitative cruelty that defines the original. Non-fans of that one, like me, will probably have a good time. But anyone heading to the new horror movie from Cineverse, distributors of the Christmas-horror gnarliness of Terrifier 3, hoping for some throwback controversy will find a movie that errs on the side of nice, rather than naughty.
Untitled Home Invasion Romance
- Genre: Black comedy thriller
- Run time: 1h 25m
- Director: Jason Biggs
- Cast: Jason Biggs, Meaghan Rath, Anna Konkle
Desperate to save his marriage, Kevin (Jason Biggs) hires a man to pose as a home invader during a romantic getaway so that he can play the hero. But the plan goes awry when his wife kills the invader, forcing Kevin to cover up the crime as the police investigate, and making him realize how little he knows about the woman he married.
Zootopia 2
- Genre: Buddy cop comedy
- Run time: 1h 48m
- Director: Jared Bush and Byron Howard
- Cast: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Ke Huy Quan
When Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan) crashes the Zootopia centennial celebration and steals a historic book, the mismatched Zootopia Police Department partners Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) work to chase them down. But the case puts them against powerful interests, who want to ensure secrets about the city’s past stay buried.
From our review:
Discrimination still very much exists within the multi-species animal city of Zootopia, and the duo of Hopps and Wilde are still fighting it. But returning directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard once again blend the high-concept political messaging about embracing diversity with a blitz of visual gags, pop-culture references, and endearingly silly characters that ensure Zootopia 2 never feels too preachy. The film moves at a breakneck pace, driven by several major chase scenes and a flood of jokes that come so fast that even if one doesn’t land, there’s something else to laugh at a moment later.
