These companies with four-day workweeks are hiring in Canada right now

28 January 20263 Mins Read

Does the idea of people working a four-day workweek make you insanely jealous? Well, these Canada-based companies offer their employees exactly that, and all have open positions to fill.

Under this work model, every weekend is a long weekend, with employees typically reporting increased well-being and productivity, and employers achieving greater business growth.

So brush up on your interview skills and memorize your resume front-to-back, because there’s no better time than the present to make your move!

Here are a handful of companies with a four-day workweek hiring in Canada right now.

With almost 30 open roles spanning administration to electrical work, Smith + Anderson provides engineering and design solutions to a whole host of clients, including mechanical and electrical engineering, lighting, security, communications design, sustainability, and much more.

In addition to Friday afternoons off, employees are encouraged to work autonomously and receive benefits like ski trips (if based out of the Vancouver office) and comprehensive health benefits. It’s one of Canada’s Best Workplaces for a reason!

Blackbird Interactive is currently hiring a Producer, a Senior/Intermediate Software Engineer (Online Platforms and Crossplay), a Senior/Intermediate Software Engineer (Unreal Engine 5 Rendering), and a Platforms Software Engineer. The company offers its employees a host of benefits, including generous leave and vacation, paid parental leave top-up, extended health and wellness benefits, and a new IP Pitching Program and bonus.

The Vancouver-based company is behind independent game titles such as Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, and Minecraft Legends, all of which feature world-class design.

Currently, Coconut is hiring four remote roles on its engineering team: an engineering manager, two intermediate developers, and one senior developer. The software company strives to make it easy for customers to connect with their financial institutions through appointment scheduling and lobby management solutions.

Employee benefits include 18 paid days off, flexible working hours, an internet subsidy, and an employee stock option plan.

MavTek is an e-commerce and digital content delivery platform that utilizes the latest cloud infrastructure. Benefits here include a home office subsidy, a profit-sharing program, healthcare coverage, and the ability to work remotely (and abroad), in addition to a four-day workweek.

Right now, it’s looking for two senior front-end developers — one who can be based anywhere in Canada, and one based in Montreal (French-speaking).

Founded in 1980, the Wilderness Committee is a non-profit working to protect Canada’s nature and wildlife and help mitigate the harmful effects of climate change. Its campaigns help organize activists and hold governments accountable to their conservation promises.

Currently, the non-profit is hiring a Vancouver-based communications officer, as well as a variety of canvassing roles across the country. Many of its roles are based on the 32-hour, four-day workweek.

Tulip provides retailers with a suite of cloud-based solutions to overcome industry challenges, build connections with customers, and optimize operations. A representative shares that the company follows a 36-hour workweek, meaning employees can choose to work 4.5 days or four days a week. Other benefits include flexible working hours, generous parental leave, and an equipment allowance.

Right now, it’s hiring for a digital marketing specialist (part-time) based in Toronto.

That’s all for now, job seekers! Check back regularly for future job postings and additions to this list.
