‘Yellowjackets’ cast share BTS photos as final season wraps filming in Metro Vancouver

27 July 20264 Mins Read

Season four of Yellowjackets is officially a wrap this week, which means Vancouver’s run as “the wilderness” is coming to a close. Confirmed as the final season of the folk horror series, season four production started in late February of this year, filming across Greater Vancouver and beyond.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets is the story of a group of teenage girls who survive a plane crash in the remote Canadian wilderness, and how some of them manage to make it back to civilization alive. It’s a bone-chilling saga with plenty of comic relief peppered in, ironically, and its third season was the most-watched to date.

In the adult timeline, the show stars Emmy nominees Melanie Lynskey (adult Shauna), Christina Ricci (adult Misty), and Lauren Ambrose (adult Van), as well as Tawny Cypress (adult Tai) and Simone Kessell (adult Lottie).

In the teenage timeline, Sophie Nélisse (teen Shauna), Jasmin Savoy Brown (teen Tai), Sophie Thatcher (teen Natalie), Samantha Hanratty (teen Misty), Courtney Eaton (teen Lottie), Liv Hewson (teen Van), Steven Krueger (Coach Ben), and Kevin Alves (teen Travis) hold it down.

The show also features Warren Kole as Jeff and Sarah Desjardins as Shauna’s daughter, Callie.

While Elijah Wood (Walter) has had a recurring role and Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank (adult Melissa) appeared in the third season as a guest star, we’ll have to see if the two return to our screens for the fourth and final season.

While the official last day of filming is listed as Thursday, July 30, according to Creative BC and the Directors Guild of Canada, some of the leading cast are already sharing their heartfelt “goodbyes” and “see-you-laters.”

To commemorate the final leg of the series, many are posting their favourite behind-the-scenes photos and moments on Instagram.

“This show, and everyone a part of it, truly has changed my life,” writes Sophie Nélisse. “To all my Yellowjackets, I will forever be howling to IT with you guys. To everyone that poured all their love and relentless work into the show for the last seven years, it’s an honour I’ll never take for granted.”

“We have been through so much together; it’s absolutely insane,” writes Samantha Hanratti. “This show is not for the weak. We couldn’t have done it without the amazing crew that constantly surrounds us, making each moment come to life.”

“Went out with a bang. What an amazing couple of years Misty has had,” adds Christina Ricci. “Final season is gonna be insane.”

“Genuinely don’t know how I could ever thank our cast and crew enough, but I threw a little party last weekend to try to express some of my gratitude,” shares Melanie Lynskey. “It came at the end of two incredibly long and tough weeks, including night shoots, and honestly I could not believe how many people showed up- my heart!!”

Production’s main site is listed as Boundary Studios (2400 Boundary Rd., Burnaby), but as with years past, the series filmed at iconic spots in Surrey, Langley, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Squamish, on Burnaby Mountain, and at Harrison Peak, to name a few.

And in between filming, some of the cast are even pictured out and about in Vancouver, catching an Aquabus (or False Creek Ferry), at a karaoke bar, and at a dallop of restaurants.

While an official release date for season four has not yet been announced, there’s speculation online that it’ll drop before the end of 2026. So keep your eyes peeled, and stay tuned for more details as they come.
