Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass DLC gets deep dive on Bubbly Basin

29 July 20263 Mins Read

Recent leaks suggested that Bubbly Basin, the first part of Pokémon Pokopia‘s DLC pack, would become available on Aug. 5. Turns out those details were spot on. On Wednesday, The Pokémon Company revealed all-new details and an expansion pass trailer that confirms Bubbly Basin will go live next Wednesday on Nintendo Switch 2.

On top of finally revealing when fans will be able to play the expansion pass, it has also unveiled several details and upcoming features for each part of the DLC, including the second part coming later in 2026.

Exploring underwater environments is the key feature of Pokémon Pokopia‘s new DLC. This would be difficult considering that Ditto can only hold its breath underwater for a limited amount of time. Thankfully, a free software update will become available alongside Bubbly Basin on Aug. 5, and in it, players will be able to speak to Manaphy and learn the move Dive, which lets Ditto breathe underwater.

Once players know how to dive, they will have no trouble reaching the town of Bubbly Basin and the dark depths of the deep sea, which will be added to Pokópia with the first part of the paid DLC. In Bubbly Basin, players will meet all sorts of Pokémon that were previously unreachable, including Totodile, Poplio, and Finneon. Similarly to the surface, their goal will be to raise the town’s environment level and make habitats for the Pokémon they encounter.

There are dozens of new furniture pieces to collect, a new crop to plant, and food to make. One of the features that stands out the most in the trailer is the Buoyant Block, which allows players to build floating structures. With it, players can get creative and make beautiful underwater buildings with a magical feel to them.

These are just some of the features that players will get to see with part one of the expansion pass. Here is what everything fans can look forward to in part one of the Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass:

  • New Pokémon
  • Bubbly Basin town
  • Deep sea environment
  • New outfits
  • Dive ability
  • Buoyant block
  • Watermelon crops
  • Smoothie recipe
  • Bubble machines
  • Surf move power-up
  • Sharpedo submarine

New information about the second part of the expansion pass was also revealed. It will focus on customization, bringing tons of accessories for Ditto and other Pokémon as well as hundreds of furniture and decorative items. This part of the DLC will be available in late 2026. Not much is known about the third and final part of Pokémon Pokopia‘s DLC, but the trailer mentions that it is scheduled to be released in 2027 and will feature a new town, as none is included in part two.

Players who purchase the Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass will receive exclusive in-game items as rewards, such as the Dynamic Ditto print recipe and 30 Rare Pokémetal ingots.
