A vibrant Lunar New Year festival is coming to Toronto’s Chinatown

22 January 20262 Mins Read

Celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse in Toronto’s Chinatown with spectacular performances, delicious eats, and cultural experiences. Here’s what to know.

On Feb. 21 and 22, 2026, make your way to Spadina Avenue, between College and Sullivan Street, and Dundas Street West between Bathurst Street and Beverley Street, for a weekend of Lunar New Year excitement.

In Chinese zodiac tradition, the Horse represents strength, energy, and ambition. This year, the Lunar New Year falls on Feb. 17, and celebrations continue for 16 days.

“As we leave behind the introspective and intuitive Year of the Snake, the Year of the Horse gallops in with vibrant and fiery energy, symbolizing adventure, vitality, and momentum,” shares Chinese New Year in its latest guide.

While organizers of the Chinatown event haven’t shared full details yet, past years suggest a lively weekend that certainly draws massive crowds.

From delicious Asian cuisine to lion dances, live music and cultural shows, the annual festivity brings together all the wonderful traditions to the heart of the city.

Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the lunar calendar and is one of the most important celebrations in many East and Southeast Asian cultures.

If this sounds like something up your alley, save the dates. It’s absolutely free to attend and open to all.

And like always, we’ll be sure to keep you updated once we hear more.
