Bridgerton fans rejoice! We’ve just got our first confirmation that writing work is underway on Season 6, chronicling the romance of fan-favorite Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) and Sir Phillip Crane.
Bridgerton Season 5 is expected to wrap filming later this month after beginning production around seven months ago in March. The fifth season is officially coming to Netflix in 2027, completing the queer romance between Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza).Naturally, after that, the show will move onto another Bridgerton sibling’s romantic arc. While Netflix has not officially confirmed who is headlining Season 6, all signs point towards Eloise Bridgerton. Showrunner Jess Brownell has strongly hinted at it, and now the writers’ assistant on Season 6 has given further confirmation, revealing that script work has started on Season 6.
In a post on TikTok that has since been deleted (but later shared on X), Bridgerton writers’ assistant Fiona Kida revealed that work on the sixth season of the drama is underway. “We’ve kicked off working on Eloise’s next season and are re-reading the books to prep and see where we left characters off,” Kida revealed in the ‘Day in the Life’ style video.
“I took the first set of the notes today, which is really fun in the blue sky phase because everyone is just pitching all these big ideas,” she added. “The other writers’ assistant then took over, and I pitched some things I thought might be cool to see too.”
Season 6 is Fiona Kida’s fourth time working on Bridgerton after joining the series as a Writers’ Assistant in 2022. She started with the production and writer’s room for Season 3, continuing her work in seasons 4 and 5. Her current work involves scouring the novel To Sir Phillip, With Love and pooling together key moments to hit in the new season. “I then worked on a document of favorite lines, moments, and set pieces that the writers could use even though they’re also going to be working on this,” she said. “I just thought it was something that would be wise for me to study too.”
What is Eloise’s romance about?
Covered in the the fifth novel in Julia Quinn’s series, To Sir Phillip, With Love, Eloise’s romance is with Sir Phillip Crane, a character who was briefly introduced into the show in seasons 1 and 2, played by Scottish actor Chris Fulton, although his return is not officially confirmed.
After the death of Marina Thompson, Eloise sends her condolences, and unwittingly becomes engaged in exchanging letters with Sir Phillip Crane. Their back-and-forth correspondences occurs for over a year, until Eloise makes the decision to travel to his secluded estate in Gloucestershire — a choice that changes the trajectory of her life.

To Sir Phillip With Love
Check out the official synopsis of To Sir Phillip, With Love down below:
Sir Phillip knew from his correspondence with his dead wife’s distant cousin that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he’d proposed, figuring that she’d be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except . . . she wasn’t. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her…
Eloise Bridgerton couldn’t marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinking… and wondering… and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except… he wasn’t. Her perfect husband wouldn’t be so moody and ill-mannered. And he certainly should have mentioned that he had two young – and decidedly unruly – children, as much in need of a mother as Phillip is in need of a wife.
Bridgerton Season 5 may lay the foundation for Eloise’s Season 6 romance
Adapting Francesca’s novel in Season 5 and Eloise’s story in Season 6 represents a shake-up from the chronological order of the novels. On the page, Eloise’s story (To Sir Phillip, With Love) comes before Francesca’s novel (When He Was Wicked). For the TV continuity however, it makes more narrative sense to cover Francesca’s story in Season 5. While Season 4 chronicled Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) romance with Sophie (Yerin Ha), it also laid the foundation for Francesca’s story — including the death of John Stirling (Victor Alli) and her personal connection with Michaela.
Looking ahead to Season 5, we foresee the season going down a similar path regarding Eloise’s overarching narrative. Specifically, we may see Eloise begin her correspondence with Sir Phillip Crane. Such a theory is popular among the social media crowd, although it hasn’t been confirmed by Netflix.
When does Bridgerton Season 6 arrive on Netflix?
We’ve still got one more instalment to watch before we reach Eloise’s story, and Netflix has officially confirmed that Bridgerton Season 5 will release in 2027. We expect it to air in mid-to-late 2027, which would officially break the two-year gap, making it the shortest wait between seasons yet.
Looking even further ahead to Season 6, a realistic release is still someway off, perhaps around late 2028 to early 2029. As always, we will keep you posted.
