Check out this new spa in Calgary that’s redefining hydrotherapy

28 May 20263 Mins Read

You no longer have to go downtown to enjoy a unique hydrotherapy experience in Calgary, because SKA Thermal Spa has opened a second location in Seton.

It’s the same hydrotherapy experience you know and love from the original Beltline spa — now in Seton. They are located at at 3970 Market St SE, Calgary, AB T3M 2J6; next to Phil & Sebastian and across from Community Natural Foods.

The hydrotherapy experience

First things first: What exactly is hydrotherapy? The age-old tradition promotes wellness and vitality through a combination of sauna, steam room, and hot and cold pools. Rotating through the various waters and temperatures can include improved blood flow, stress release, deep relaxation, eased muscles, boosted immune system, and overall detoxification.

The formula goes hot, cold, rest, and repeat! Start in the hot vitality pool, where waters of up to 40 degrees Celcius aid in relaxing muscles, decreasing soreness, and providing stress relief. Next, take a quick dip in the cold plunge pool, which numbs the nerves around joints and muscles to cause a release of endorphins and other hormones with pain-relieving properties.

A trip to the steam room will open your airways and deliver positive moisturizing effects to the skin, followed by some time in the dry sauna to flush toxins from the body. Finish your cycle with a refreshing cold shower followed by a rest in the lounge area, where you can hydrate with complimentary flavoured waters and tea.

The SKA difference

While most hydrotherapy spas only focus on pools and saunas, SKA combines the thermal circuit with full spa services like massages and facials. After all, the only thing more relaxing than hot, cold, rest, repeat is hot, cold, rest, repeat, massage.

The SKA atmosphere is very serene, with light conversations in gentle, quiet tones so that guests can enjoy a calm environment. But if you’re a certified yapper (guilty!) you can enjoy social hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily, where conversations pick up, and music becomes more lively. It’s a fantastic option for anyone who wants to enjoy the experience with a friend or partner while still maintaining a chill vibe.

Relaxation meets social wellness at SKA Thermal Spa, now available in Seton. To learn more and book your first appointment, visit the SKA Thermal Spa website.
