Get lost in southern Alberta’s largest corn maze just outside Calgary this summer

16 June 20263 Mins Read

If you’ve been needing an excuse to let out your inner child and spend a day doing something a little different, this is it. Just beyond Calgary lies a farm that’s filled with open fields, seasonal activities, and over 40 attractions. Calgary Farmyard brings together animal encounters, hands-on activities, and rides together in one big open space.

A countryside escape packed with adventure

From the moment you walk in, there’s so much to see and do. According to the Calgary Farmyard, there are more than 40 attractions to choose from across the property. Guests can explore the playground, tube slides, mini golf, speeder karts, and interactive farm games.

And of course, the farm wouldn’t be complete without the animals. There are over 15 animal stands where visitors can view and interact with barnyard animals like goats and pigs.

One of the most well-known attractions at the Calgary Farmyard is the corn maze, which operates seasonally starting in late July and spans a large 10-acre area. According to the Calgary Farmyard, it’s considered the largest corn maze in southern Alberta, with corn stalks that can grow up to 10 feet tall, which limits visibility and makes it easy to lose your sense of direction.

If you’re up for the adventure, the maze takes around 1 hour to complete. There are also interactive trivia elements hidden throughout the maze, which can extend the experience.

And if you get hungry after a long day of exploring the farm, there are plenty of food options to choose from. You’ll find options like smash burgers, chicken tenders, poutine and dirty fries, along with fresh mini donuts. It’s set up to be convenient so that you can grab a quick bite and head to the next attraction.

Plan your visit

The Calgary Farmyard is located just outside the city, in Rocky View County, which is roughly a 30-minute drive from Calgary.

In terms of pricing, general admission typically starts at $25.97 plus GST, and seasonal passes are available for those who plan to visit more than once.

So if you’re up for the adventure and looking to spend a few hours getting lost in a maze, visiting baby animals, and checking out one of the province’s most popular farm experiences, Calgary Farmyard is an easy pick for a day trip just outside the city.

When: Open Friday to Sunday (Corn Maze opens late July)
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: 284022 Township Rd. 224, Rocky View County, Alta.
Cost: $25.95 +GST for kids, $29.95 +GST for adults
