With major airlines across the globe cancelling some flight routes, suspending or reducing others and adding fuel surcharges to ticket prices – all as a result of jet fuel shortages stemming from the war in Iran – travellers are thinking twice before booking vacation flights. At the pumps, prices are continuing to climb (despite the federal government introducing a gasoline and diesel tax break in March), making summer road trips more costly as well.

In April, Statistics Canada data showed that airfares had risen 2.9 per cent compared to March of 2025. Gas prices in March were also up 21 per cent over the previous month, while Canada’s inflation hit 2.4 per cent after sitting at 1.8 per cent in February.

Are you feeling the crunch as you look to schedule or adjust your summer travel plans? Whether you’ve decided to cancel an international trip in favour of a less costly local adventure, shaved a few days off of a trip to help save money or cancelled your travel plans altogether, we want to hear from you.
