Netflix Showcases Chinese-Language Slate of New and Series for 2026

Netflix has officially unveiled its 2026 Chinese-language slate, promising a shift toward “bolder concepts and grittier storytelling.” From the streaming debut of Hong Kong icon Ekin Cheng to high-concept fantasy and the return of award-winning creators, here is your guide to the 10 new titles coming from the region.

“Chinese-language storytelling is singular in its vibrancy, emotional depth, and willingness to explore complex, darker human truths,” said Maya Huang, Netflix’s Head of Chinese Language Content, who previously worked as a writer and script consultant.

New Series (2026 Releases)

Million-Follower Detective

Genre: Crime Mystery | Release Date: February 12, 2026

Hong Kong action legend Ekin Cheng makes his highly anticipated return in his first Netflix series. He plays Chen Chia-jen, a veteran detective investigating a chilling string of influencer murders linked to a masked online prophet known as “Witch Baba.” As the prophet’s predictions come true, Chen joins forces with a young influencer (Shou Lou) and a tech investigator (Patty Lee) to uncover a web of lies.


Agent from Above

Genre: Action-Fantasy | Release Date: Q2 2026

Adapted from the novel The Oracle Comes, this ambitious series blends folk beliefs with modern VFX. Kai Ko stars as Han Chieh, a spirit medium bound to serve the Third Crown Prince (Wang Po-chieh) to atone for a past mistake. Together with a detective who can see spirits (Johnny Yang), he battles to restore balance between the human and demon realms.


Miracles of the ER

Genre: Medical Drama | Release Date: Q4 2026

Set at Central University Hospital, this medical drama, described as grounded, delves into the high-pressure world of emergency medicine. Wallace Huo stars as the Associate Director who makes the bold decision to hire an average-performing graduate (Kent Tsai). The team faces relentless medical crises, ethical dilemmas, and internal power struggles.


Confessions

Genre: Psychological Thriller | Release Date: 2026

Director Wong Ching-po (The Pig, The Snake and The Pigeon) returns with a dark thriller spanning twenty years. This serves as his first writing and directing series debut. A 2004 bombing case shatters three families, leaving a trail of buried grievances that resurface generations later. Starring Ethan Ruan, Gingle Wang, and Chen Yi-wen.


The Fixers

Genre: Action-Comedy | Release Date: 2026

Christopher Lee stars as a down-on-his-luck gangster called Chiang Fu-sheng who stumbles into a mysterious organization based in a century-old temple. Paired with an arrogant partner (Shou Lou), he must handle thorny problems for the elite while navigating a turf war against a rival faction. Hung Tzu-hsuan is directing the new series. 


Bloody Smart

Genre: Thriller / Fantasy | Release Date: 2026

In a tightly regulated school town, a “Bloodfruit Tree” takes root, delivering fruit that awakens suppressed desires. As emotions slip free, the town begins to unravel. The cast includes Gigi Leung and Buffy Chen.


Dogman

Genre: Drama / Music | Release Date: 2026

Created by Giddens Ko, this series follows a student (Tsai Jia-yin) tricked into medical school who dreams of becoming an astronaut. He must juggle ambition, love, and family expectations.

Pacify (Working Title)

Status: In Production

A supernatural thriller about a cynical worker who joins a secret exorcism group called “Yuzhen Bathhouse.” Directed by Derek Kwok and Anthony Yan.
