News (Edmonton): Dance Lives Here Initiative – Alberta Dance Alliance, Theater News

24 April 20261 Min Read

Collaborative. Innovative. Ambitious. Alive

Edmonton – Did you know the Edmonton dance scene is one of the most vibrant in Canada? Members of the Edmonton dance community and the Alberta Dance Alliance are launching a new initiative, Dance Lives Here, on International Dance Day, April 29.

Dance Lives Here will officially launch with a free lunch time event at City Hall on April 29th from 12:15 – 1:00 pm. Enjoy a variety of performances, hear from members of Edmonton’s dance community, and learn more about an exciting new marketing initiative promoting dance in Edmonton.

According to Alberta Dance Alliance, there are 13 professional dance companies, 48 semi-professional dance groups and 43 independent dance artists in Edmonton. Plus, 79 community recreational dance groups, 123registered dance studios and over 6100 youth training in dance – that’s something to celebrate.

The Dance Lives Here campaign is possible through the support of the Alberta Dance Alliance and the Edmonton Arts Council through the City of Edmonton. We thank these essential organizations and salute their dedication to the local dance scene.
