Olivia Rodrigo Says She’s Smelled Fans’ Diapers From the Stage — Fans Are Grossed Out

“Disgusting” seems to be the running reaction from fans after learning Olivia Rodrigo has been subjected to the aroma of fans’ diapers while on stage.

During an interview with U.K. radio show KISS Breakfast, Rodrigo said she’s gotten a whiff of what’s happening in the first few rows. “I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show,” she said. “That’s been an experience of a performer that I have smelled and experienced.”

Rodrigo compared it to how many New Year’s Eve revelers prepare for the ball drop in New York City. “It’s also like with the ball drop in New York for New Year’s Eve, everyone is wearing diapers — they sit there all day,” she said. “That’s a thing. I think about it kind of often. It’s a real thing.”

The reason Rodrigo even addressed the phenomenon is because she was seen reading a sign during a 2025 concert. In the video, she’s heard saying, “‘Wearing diapers for front row.’ Is that true? Did you guys wear diapers? You’re wearing a diaper to be in the front row?”

The person must have responded affirmatively because she replied, “Wow. Wow, that’s actually amazing,” she said. “I love you. Thank you for doing that.”

While Rodrigo was impressed, several fans who read the story weren’t with the diaper game. A slew of “disgusting” comments flooded Threads; other people went deeper by writing, “That’s gotta be among the most disgusting, undignified things I’ve ever heard. And so rude! Not only to the performer but to all the fans within range of the noxious fumes. Ewwwww.”

Others appreciated that “someone finally said it” and wondered if “it was worth” wearing a diaper to maintain their seat status.

One person said the smell alone would stop them in their tracks. “I’d stop performing if i started smelling dirty diapers when i sing. Gtfo. Like is it a concert or a daycare? Effing ew,” they commented.
