Percy Jackson and the Olympians Lands on Netflix Globally — But Not for Long

Camp Half-Blood has a new, if temporary, home. The first two seasons of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians landed on Netflix globally today (October 4th), but you’ll need to move fast, as the series is only sticking around for a short promotional window.

The arrival is part of the huge new Disney licensing deal we covered on Friday, which also brings all five Ice Age movies, Will Trent, Felicity, and Pixar favorites to Netflix (plus lots more, we hear). While most of that deal is about Disney squeezing extra revenue from its library, Percy Jackson is a marketing play, with Netflix’s 325 million-plus subscribers as the billboard.

How long will Percy Jackson be on Netflix?

Disney has given Netflix a three-month window, putting the likely removal date in early January 2027. We’ll confirm the exact date once Netflix’s “Last day to watch” label appears, so keep an eye on our leaving soon page.

That leaves roughly seven weeks to binge both seasons before Season 3 premieres on Disney+ on November 20th. Nothing is leaving Disney+ either: the deal is non-exclusive, and Season 3 will be a Disney+ exclusive.

Season 3: The Titan’s Curse arrives November 20th

Season 3 adapts The Titan’s Curse, the third of Rick Riordan’s five books, and premieres on Friday, November 20th, with eight episodes released weekly. That’s less than a year after Season 2 debuted, a big improvement on the two-year wait between the first two seasons.

This time, Annabeth has been captured by the forces of Kronos, and Percy must team up with Grover, Thalia, and the Hunters of Artemis to rescue her and stop Olympus from falling.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri return, and per TV Insider they’re joined by Holt McCallany (Mindhunter) as the villainous Atlas, Dafne Keen as Artemis, Saara Chaudry as Zoë Nightshade, Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie as Nico and Bianca Di Angelo, Ming-Na Wen as Hera, Jennifer Beals as Demeter, and Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite.

The creators have long planned one season per book, but a Season 4 renewal has yet to be announced.

Does Percy Jackson look better on Netflix?

Some early Netflix viewers are claiming Percy Jackson simply looks better on its new home, with brighter, easier-to-follow scenes.

everyone is not kidding when they say the quality on netflix is so much better than d+ bc wdym I rewatched 10+ times and never noticed percy/walker’s tiny freckles before until now pic.twitter.com/VDghdh4V9J

That would scratch a long-standing itch. Dim lighting has been a gripe since Season 1, with one reviewer noting in 2024 that some scenes were so poorly lit they couldn’t tell what was happening.

There are plausible explanations: Netflix and Disney+ encode the same masters differently, HDR handling varies across apps and devices, and your TV settings matter too, as a cinematographer recently explained to us. Watched on both? Tell us which looks better.

Disney isn’t the first to use Netflix this way. In fact, it’s technically been something since Netflix’s earliest days, with Breaking Bad often the oldest and biggest example. More recently, Fox has turned “catch up on Netflix, watch new episodes elsewhere” into an art form. Doc set the template. Season 1 landed on Netflix US the same day Season 2 premiered on Fox in September 2025, and Fox repeated the trick this year, with Season 2 arriving on Netflix on September 22nd, 2026, the night Season 3 debuted. Best Medicine, Fox’s Doc Martin remake starring Josh Charles, followed suit, with Season 1 hitting Netflix US on August 4th, seven weeks before Season 2 premiered.

Percy Jackson follows the same playbook, with one key difference: Doc landed full library rights on Netflix, while Percy gets just three months before heading home.

The real test is whether Netflix viewers follow Percy to Disney+ for The Titan’s Curse. If they do, expect to see the playbook again with Ice Age: Boiling Point in February. For everything else in the deal, see our full breakdown.

Will you be catching up on Percy Jackson on Netflix before Season 3? Let us know in the comments below.
