The Calgary Humane Society is preparing for its 2026 summer hiring, with a variety of opportunities available across the organization for youth under 24. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience in animal care and community roles.
On April 8, the Calgary Humane Society will host a virtual Q&A session for youth ages 15 to 24. The session is designed to give potential applicants more insight into available roles, the hiring process, and what it’s like to work in animal care and welfare.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the different roles available and what they entail. This session is the perfect first step for those who are interested in pursuing a career in animal care or related fields.
Summer job opportunities available
There will be a range of positions available across different departments, which include:
- Summer camp leader
- Humane education assistant
- Animal care attendant
- Behaviour assistant
- Adoption counsellor
- Animal admissions counsellor
- Community outreach and events assistant
- Administrative and communications roles

How to apply
Those interested in applying can attend a virtual information session on Wednesday, April 8, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., to learn more about the available summer positions and how to apply. Following the session, applicants are encouraged to connect with the Youth Employment Centre, which can provide support with resumes and applications and help explore additional opportunities within the care sector.
Additionally, if you’re looking for long-term care positions in animal care, you can attend the in-person session at the Living Library on April 10 to ask questions and hear directly from Calgary Humane Society’s director of human resources and human resources manager.
These opportunities not only provide practical experience but also help participants build valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and animal care. Working for the Calgary Humane Society is also a great opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause in a professional setting.
With summer just around the corner, now is a great time to explore the opportunities and take the next step towards a career in animal care.
