The Last Airbender Season 2 Sets Surprise June 2026 Netflix Release Date

After a cryptic tease set the internet ablaze yesterday, Netflix has officially unveiled the long-awaited release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.

We can officially confirm that Aang and the rest of the Gaang will return to our screens to continue their journey through the Earth Kingdom on June 25th, 2026.

The announcement follows a teaser posted to the official Avatar: The Last Airbender Instagram page yesterday, March 30th, which had fans eagerly counting down the hours.

While we wait to return to the world of bending on June 25th, here is a quick refresher on everything we already know about Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, beginning with a new featurette that just dropped today.

Throughout the video, the returning cast members express their excitement about being back on set and emphasize that the show has completely “leveled up,” highlighting massive practical sets—such as the Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se, which was built entirely outside—as well as significantly elevated bending styles and fight choreography. The teaser also warmly welcomes new cast member Miya Cech, who is officially joining the gang to play the fan-favorite character, Toph.

In addition we also got the official poster and two new stills. Expect the trailer in May.

A Slimmer, But Longer Season

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Season 2 will consist of seven episodes—one less than the first season’s eight-episode run. However, before you worry about the pacing being rushed, reports indicate that the overall runtime for the season will actually be longer than Season 1’s 430 minutes. 

We also have the official episode titles for the upcoming season:

• Episode 1: Somewhere Safe
• Episode 2: A Fight, Once Begun
• Episode 3: City of Walls and Secrets
• Episode 4: The Water Falls, the Stones Emerge
• Episode 5: Ten Thousand Things
• Episode 6: The Parable of the Two Dragons
• Episode 7: Something Broken

Fans of the original animated series will notice that the live-action adaptation is shaking up the timeline slightly. Aang, Katara, and Sokka will be arriving in the sprawling Earth Kingdom capital of Ba Sing Se by Episode 3, much earlier than in the animated counterpart. This also means we’ll likely see the introduction of Wan Shi Tong’s Library (referenced in Episode 5) after their arrival in the city.

Season 3, which has already wrapped filming, will similarly only be seven episodes long. 

Toph Beifong and New Faces

One of the most highly anticipated additions to the cast is Miya Cech, who will be bringing the fan-favorite, blind Earthbending master Toph Beifong to life. Based on the episode titles, expect the “Blind Bandit” to make her debut early in the season, likely around Episode 2. Netflix has already shared first-look images of Gordon Cormier’s Aang—who has noticeably grown up since Season 1—alongside Kiawentiio as Katara and Ian Ousley as Sokka.

Season 2 is also bringing a massive roster of new characters into the fold. Confirmed new cast members include:

• Chin Han as Long Feng
• Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei
• Justin Chien as King Kuei
• Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee
• Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong
• Kelemete Misipeka as The Boulder
• Dichen Lachman as Avatar Yangchen

They’ll be joining returning stars like Dallas Liu (Prince Zuko), Elizabeth Yu (Princess Azula), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Uncle Iroh), and Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai).

Behind the Scenes

There has been a notable shakeup behind the camera for the upcoming episodes. Albert Kim, who served as showrunner for the first season, has stepped back into an executive producer role. Taking the reins are Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani, both of whom were pivotal to the show’s first outing and are now serving as the series leaders. Raisani is also confirmed to direct multiple episodes this season alongside Anu Menon, Amit Gupta, and Hiromi Kamata.

It’s also worth remembering that Netflix handed Avatar: The Last Airbender a double-renewal for Seasons 2 and 3 so the show can properly finish Aang’s story in a three-book structure. To ensure the young cast wouldn’t age out of their roles, both seasons were filmed nearly back-to-back in Vancouver, wrapping production in late 2025.
