A drive-in movie pop-up is coming to the Edmonton Valley Zoo this summer

18 June 20263 Mins Read

Drive-in movies are finally back in Edmonton, and I couldn’t be more excited for this iconic activity.

Horizon Drive-In is putting on four different movies across two days at Edmonton Valley Zoo. Whether you’re looking for something scary or family-friendly, there’s going to be a film for every person in the group. In July, when the weather is just right, you’ll be able to drive on down, get a ticket, and enjoy a movie from the sanctity of your own vehicle.

In partnership with the Valley Zoo Development Society, a portion of every ticket sold will go directly toward helping build and enhance the future of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. With every ticket purchased, it helps support the incredible conservation, education, and animal care initiatives right here within the community.

Some things to know ahead of the event— parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis within designated parking areas that will be based on vehicle type. It’s not going to be a free-for-all, so to ensure a smooth arrival experience, the team behind the drive-in recommends arriving approximately 30 to 45 minutes before your showtime.

Feeling hungry? Concessions will be available on-site with cash, debit, and credit accepted. If you want to skip the line, you’ll be able to pre-order your snacks online and use the express pickup lane for faster service.

What movies are playing?

There will be two movies playing each evening on July 3 and July 4. It’s definitely going to be busy, so we’d recommend getting tickets now, starting at $16.20 adult tickets.

On Friday, the drive-in movie will kick off with Grease, starting at 10 p.m. promptly. Following the musical, the original Top Gun will play at 11:45 p.m. Although it’s late, this joyride of a movie will keep you up and energized into the evening.

Following these flicks, Saturday is even more jam-packed with cult classics. Zootopia will play first at 10 p.m., making sure you can get your kids into bed before it’s a little too late in the night. Then, we’re shifting gears right into the horror genre. The Conjuring will come up next at 11:45 p.m., giving you the perfect scare in the dark.

Get your tickets soon, folks! You won’t want to miss this great opportunity under the stars.

When: Friday, July 3, 2026, and Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 10 and 11:45 p.m.
Where: Edmonton Valley Zoo — 13315 Buena Vista Rd. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $16.20+
