This popular Greek street-pasta chain is making its North American debut in Toronto, Canada Reviews

1 June 20262 Mins Read

You don’t always need a family-run trattoria to enjoy hot pasta coated in fresh sauce, and a new cult-fave Greek chain is proving exactly that, bringing its elevated “street pasta” concept to Toronto in iconic to-go cups.

Mailo’s The Pasta Project is opening its first North American location in the entertainment corridor this month, allowing the city’s grab-and-go club to choose from three pasta shapes: rigatoni, casarecce or campanelle, and pair them with one of Mailo’s signature sauces. The menu will feature 13 pasta dishes, including familiar picks like Carbonara, as well as a Greek-inspired Pastitsio, giving the opening a mix of classic comfort food and flavours tied to the brand’s roots.

“The expansion of our restaurants into Canada marks an exciting new chapter of growth for the brand,” Nikos Moutsouroufis, Founder of Mailo’s The Pasta Project, said, adding that Toronto is a strategic launchpad that will help shape the brand’s future growth across North America. “Our first store is designed to be more than just a point of sale; it’s a destination where we can build awareness, foster community, and introduce guests to the Mailo’s experience.”

The move also reflects Toronto’s growing role as a North American launchpad (a sort of test market, perhaps) for international food brands. Last year, we reported on how a powerhouse of London’s Indian dining scene landed in Canadian hands: Toronto-based Fairfax Financial Holdings acquired MW Eat, the London restaurant group behind huge Indian dining names like Amaya, Chutney Mary and the Michelin-starred Veeraswamy, in a deal meant to bring those brands into new international markets.

MW Eat doesn’t have any operational restaurants in Toronto yet, but in the meantime, you can enjoy fresh pasta on the go! Mailo’s The Pasta Project opens June 12 at 357 Bremner Blvd.
